Goshenite which has a hardness of 7½ to 8 on the Moh's scale is significantly harder than feldspar and quartz gemstones, but slightly softer than topaz gemstone and much softer than rubies and sapphires.
In specific gravity Goshenite has a specific gravity of 2.66-2.87 which is much lower than Topaz gemstone which has a specific gravity of 3.49-3.57 and sapphires which has a specific gravity of 3.959-4.03
